Newspaper in Education (NIE) is a community-based literacy program. It serves area educators who request classroom sets of the Appeal-Democrat. Our program includes newspapers, weekly educational features, education workshops, curriculum packets, periodic "hands-on" projects and monthly newsletters. In short, the Appeal-Democrat becomes a valuable teaching tool and an integral part of the learning environment.
