Briefs: Fifth Street Bridge work to close lane
YUBA-SUTTER
The Fifth Street Bridge, which connects Marysville and Yuba City, will be closed to eastbound traffic on Sunday morning.
The Yuba City Public Works Department announced the closure is taking place from 6 a.m. to noon.
"The closure is so the Public Works Department can repair the damaged delineators in the center divide," according to a roadway advisory.
YUBA CITY
Tharp expansion, sidewalk approved
The Yuba City City Council voted on Tuesday to spend $137,000 to add a driving lane and build a sidewalk on Tharp Road.
The sidewalk will connect two housing projects built over the last decade, said Steve Kroeger, assistant city manager. A new driving lane north of Poole Boulevard will increase the number of northbound lanes on Tharp Road from one to two.
The city advertised the project to contractors in early January and received 19 bids a month later. JD Pasquetti Engineering Inc., of Granite Bay, submitted the lowest bid and won the contract.
City officials expect construction to start in March and finish in May.
