Letter: Why does U.S. borrow, then give?
I will admit that I am not a math whiz, and I would like for one of the smart people in our government to explain something to me. My question is: Why would our country that is in debt to China and others, to the tune of 15 TRILLION dollars, continue to borrow money, and then give it away in foreign aid? This is so very hard for me to understand, especially when we are about to give $1.5 BILLION to Egypt, a country that is in turmoil and hates the U.S. That is just a small portion of the foreign aid that the government gives away every year, to enemies of the U.S.
When will people in the Congress get a backbone an take over their role assigned to them by the Constitution, and stop being flunkies for the White House? President Barack Obama has overstepped his authority many times since he has been in office, and I as a citizen feel that is time for the Congress to assert its power and stop these unconstitutional acts that he has been allowed to do.
