50th Anniversary: Johns

Yuba City residents Ersal and Edna Johns, the former Edna Stamps, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise in January, a gift from their children.

Family and friends also surprised them later with a dinner party at the Dragon Inn in Marysville.

The couple were married Oct. 8, 1961, and are longtime Yuba-Sutter residents.

He retired in 1995 after 31 years with Lucky Stores and Albertson’s.

She formerly worked seasonally for Libby’s cannery.

Both are members of the Peach Tree Lane Church of Christ and enjoy traveling with their fifth wheel.

Their family includes four children, Jennifer Fairey and Ersal Johns III, both of Yuba City, Dana Kohler of Sutter and Rebecca Pfoser of San Pedro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
